Professional Standards

Sustaining good practice is important to me. I work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework.

I have both individual and peer group supervision, and undertake personal and professional development through participating in a wide variety of courses and workshops each year.

I am an individual member of:

  • B.A.C.P. (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
  • B.A.P.C.A. (British Association for the Person Centred Approach)
  • P.C.T. Scotland (The Association for Person Centred Therapy Scotland)

Professional Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in Counselling (University of Strathclyde)
  • Dip. Couns. (ABC/Centra)
  • Dip. Client Centred Therapy (B.A.C.P. Accredited Course)
  • Dip. Person Centred Supervision (C.S.P.)
  • Gen. Cert. Online Counselling (C.P.C.A.B.)
  • B.Ed. Hons (Southampton)
  • Cert. Ed. (Special Education) (Southampton)

Now in my second decade of counselling, I am also an experienced counselling supervisor and consultant, have presented at national and international conferences, am published in several professional journals, and have a chapter in “Counselling Ideologies” (Ashgate).

Previously a senior teacher in Special Education I am familiar with the additional difficulties that can arise from being physically or mentally challenged, and have worked successfully with people who are partially sighted, have CP, RA, and ASD.
